Padma Shri Dr.Brahmanandam Kanneganti
(Telugu: బ్రహ్మానందం కన్నెగంటి)
(born 1 February 1956)
is a popular Telugu film comedian-actor.

He has also entered the Guinness book of world records. He has been accoladed with many awards including the Nandi Award

BACKGROUND:

Padma Shri Dr. Brahmanandam Kanneganti was born on 1 February 1956 in Andhra Pradesh, India. Prior to films, he was a Telugu lecturer in the town of Attili, a town in West Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

He began his film career with popular Telugu director and writer, Jandhyala's Aha Naa Pellanta in which Rajendra Prasad played the lead role. This movie has since become a cult classic among Telugu comedy films. Owing to his comic abilities and impeccable expressions, he is one of the most respected comedians in the history of Tollywood. Nowadays, he is a well-versatile active comedian in Tamil movies as well, such as in Ghilli, Mozhi, Kuselan and Sathyam. Audiences and critics have enjoyed his comedy characters in recent Telugu movies such as Krishna,King, Ready,Adurs,Namo Venkatesha etc. Now a days it is very tough to imagine a Telugu movie without the legendary comedian in it.

According to him, Jandhyala, EVV and S.V.Krishna Reddy were the best comedy directors he has ever worked with. He is presently writing a book based on his experiences in the film industry.

FAMILY:

He is married and has two sons. His eldest, Goutham debuted through Pallakilo Pellikooturu, a Telugu film. Goutham will be soon seen in another film under ChandhraShekhar Yeleti's direction.


AWARDS:

• Acharya Nagarjuna University awarded Brahmanandam an honorary doctorate award.
• He has been selected for 2005 year's Allu Award instituted in the memory of Allu Rama Lingaiah. On 1 October 2005, the award was presented to him at a function in Hyderabad. The award consists of a Swarna Kankanam (Translation: Gold bracelet), a citation and a souvenir.
• He recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for acting in 754 Telugu films in 20 years.^[1]
• In January 2009, the Government of India bestowed the coveted title of Padmasri on Brahmanandam for his contributions to art.^[2]
• As on 1 May, he acted in about 840 Telugu movies, which is a record.
• Selected for Nandi Award for best male comedian for 2008 films announced in 2009. This was for the film Ready.

IN MEDIA:

Brahmanandam foreyed into the small screen by conducting a quiz show called Brahmi 10 Lakh Show on iNews Telugu TV News Channel. This is show very similar to the popular Indian quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
